It is so interesting how in one moment everything can change. Whether good or bad, in that moment you know your life will never be the same. Recently, we have been helping students give their testimonies in English. What a joy it is to help them express God's love for them. For everyone who becomes a follower of Christ there is that one moment when your life would never be the same. The moment you made the biggest decision of your life. It was not what your major was going to be or what college you wanted to go to. It was the decision of where you would spend eternity. In that moment your life for eternity was changed. In that precise moment, God decided to impact your life in a way you would never forget. However, God never stops impacting us. From the testimonies of my students, I see so many ways that God has impacted their lives. Two of my three students have lost a child. One of them told me that her child is "dancing in heaven with The Lord" and that "we (God's children) will be dancing with her son someday. Through all three of their lives God is continuing to work. A lot of students here have a passion for The Lord. They desire to go out to the world and impact other people's lives. But, for now they are impacting me. The way they encourage me to follow after God and be courageous for Him is so moving to me. We laugh, we cry, we get confused together. But through it all we have left a mark that will change our lives forever.
Most of the time you don't know when you impact someone's life. Every now and then through we get a glimpse into the working if God's plan through us. I wondered why all the doors seem to burst open for me when I was thinking about going on this trip. One thing after another just showed God's provision for me. But why Bolivia and why now. I think God had a unique purpose for each one of the team members going on the trip. For me my answer came tonight. Of course my acting skills have been really beneficial this week. But that is not the whole answer. I have been sick the past few days and haven't been able to talk much. Once muted by this sudden sickness I saw the caring people had for me. They wondered were the goofy smiles were. And that is just it. I am here to encourage these people and be servant to them. My student tonight shared with me that her friend (another student) and her have both shared tears over their great losses in their life. This week however they were able to see a different side of one another. They were able to laugh together for really the first time. I would never have known since she is the one who always makes the best jokes in our group. (And she does it in English as well.) Moments of impact are everywhere. All he time people impact each other whether good or bad. Tonight we were challenged to go out and impact the world for good. As part of God's loving family, make the choice to stand with us and impact the world.
Great post Sarah! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIsaiah 55:8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. Your testimony of how circumstances have played out and what God has been doing give evidence to this. Thank you for praising him and being a tool he can use. Praying for you and the team today!
